When you consider that the average UK Tenancy is 2.4 years it is extremely important to choose the right letting agent at the first attempt. 2.4 years is a bit longer than a divorce takes, which can be nearly as painful as being locked in a contract with the wrong letting agent. At a time where retail rate relief is being cut from 75% to 40% from 1-APR-25 and PAYE + National Insurance rates have increased for employers it is understandable that many letting agencies are not replacing staff leavers to balance the books. Wonder what effect this will have on the standard of service provided? Especially property management you know, once the client is tied in. There is also nothing worse than dealing with inexperienced staff or being passed from a valuer, to a negotiator, ever changing property managers during the Tenancy and disinterested administrators dealing with the deposit return at the end. The larger the agent the truer this is. You never know who to ask for or who you will get, and each time the call is answered let’s face it; you are ‘just a number’.
